The National Museum of the Royal Navy

Filming location: The National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth

February 2024

The National Museum of the Royal Navy is the holding company for a group of museums that preserve and showcase the history, collections, and heritage of the Royal Navy. Its mission is to inspire enjoyment and engagement with the story of the Royal Navy and its role in shaping Britain and the modern world.

The museum is undertaking a 10-year conservation project to preserve HMS Victory, the iconic naval ship, by replacing degraded timber, stabilizing historical sections, and reinstating the rigging. This extensive work requires large quantities of materials and significant storage space. While the museum has a workshop and storage area within the old ropewalk, the building’s Grade 2 listed status limited their options for storage solutions.

In this case study film produced by Momentous Films and Finch Technical Solutions, Stuart Sheldon, Lead Rigger at the museum, talks about some of the challenges they faced and how Total Interiors were able to provide a solution to overcome these. You can read the full case study on the Total Interiors website.
